The quarter on the lovely hill

Until the 1920s, before the construction of the great Zaehringen bridge, few buildings were visible on the Schoenberg hill. Little by little, family homes were built on the Bellevue plateau. The futuristic urbanisation of the Cité-Jardin was never completed.

The building boom that began in the 1960s shaped the neighbourhood as we know it today.
The Schoenberg quarter, on the German-speaking right bank of the Sarine, is a truly cosmopolitan place, with residents from over 80 nations around the world.
